Privacy policy

This privacy policy describes how your personal data is collected, used and protected when you visit the English pages of yousseftlemcani.com, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and French law no. 78-17 of 6 January 1978 (“Informatique et Libertés”). The French pages of the site are covered by the French privacy policy.
Data controller
The data controller is Youssef Tlemçani, sole trader (micro-entreprise), who can be reached at hello@yousseftlemcani.com. Full details are given in the legal notice (in French).
The site is an informational website with a blog. It sells nothing online and is aimed at individuals.
Data collected and purposes
You can browse most of the site without providing any personal data. Data is only collected in the following cases:

Before one of these forms is sent, the domain of your email address (the part after ”@”) is checked automatically, to make sure it can receive emails. This check stores no data.
No data is sold, rented or passed on to third parties for commercial purposes.
Legal basis for processing
- Answering your enquiries and booking calls: your consent and/or steps taken at your request before entering into a contract (Articles 6.1.a and 6.1.b GDPR).
- Sending the analysis requested via the calculator: steps taken at your request before entering into a contract (Article 6.1.b GDPR).
- New-article alerts: your consent (Article 6.1.a GDPR), given by sending the form, whose purpose is stated on the form itself. You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in each email or by writing to hello@yousseftlemcani.com.
- Audience measurement (Google Analytics): the publisher’s legitimate interest in analysing visits to the site in order to improve it (Article 6.1.f GDPR). You can object to this processing at any time (see “Cookies” below).
Cookies
The site sets audience measurement cookies via Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID: G-VT0Q58BQPM). These cookies are used to analyse visits to the site statistically in order to improve its content.
You can object to this audience measurement at any time:
- by setting your browser to block or delete cookies;
- by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on offered by Google: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Refusing audience measurement cookies has no effect on your use of the site.
The sign-up window for new-article alerts also stores, in your browser’s local storage and session storage, whether you have closed it, whether you have already seen it during your visit or are already signed up, and the time spent on the site, so that it is not shown to you again. This information stays on your device, contains no personal data and is never sent to me; clearing your browser’s site data erases it.
Retention periods
- Contact and booking data: kept for as long as needed to handle your request and manage the relationship, then deleted or archived within 3 years of our last contact.
- Data sent via the calculator: kept for as long as needed to handle your request and manage the relationship, then deleted within 3 years of our last contact.
- Email address used for new-article alerts: kept until you unsubscribe, then deleted.
- Audience measurement data (Google Analytics): kept according to the tool’s settings, for no more than 14 months.
Recipients and processors
Your data may be processed by the following providers, acting as processors or third parties on behalf of the publisher:
- Google (Google Analytics) — audience measurement.
- Calendly — online appointment booking.
- Netlify, Inc. — hosting of the site, receipt and storage of requests sent via the site’s forms (Netlify Forms): calculator form and new-article alert forms.
- WhatsApp / Meta — contact channel.
Each of these providers processes your data only for the purposes described above.
Transfers outside the European Union
Some of these providers (Google, Calendly, Netlify, WhatsApp / Meta) are based in the United States or may transfer data there. These transfers outside the European Union are covered by appropriate safeguards provided for by the GDPR, in particular the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses and/or participation in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Security
The publisher takes reasonable measures to protect the security and confidentiality of your data and to prevent it from being altered, damaged or disclosed to unauthorised third parties.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights over your personal data:
- Right of access: to obtain confirmation that your data is being processed and to receive a copy of it.
- Right to rectification: to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
- Right to erasure: to request that your data be deleted.
- Right to object: to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your data.
- Right to data portability: to receive the data you have provided in a structured, reusable format.
- Right to restriction of processing.
To exercise these rights, simply send a request by email to hello@yousseftlemcani.com. You will receive an answer as soon as possible and within one month at the latest. You may be asked to prove your identity if there is reasonable doubt.
Complaint to the CNIL
If, after contacting me, you consider that your rights have not been respected, you may lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés (CNIL), 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07 — www.cnil.fr.
